Testimonies
“ I always thought of a medical clinic in the colony. It is a dream fulfilled. God is at work here.” Allappa, leprosy patient, resident of Gandhi Leprosy Colony.
“ I have for many years worked to change this colony. Many things have changed but they are physical changes that make this colony look nice. With Karuna now helping us in the colony I have come to believe that it is the mind set of the people that have to change & it is encouraging to see that a few people especially the youth are now slowly changing. Some of the youth have been motivated to work and have also found jobs.”
Hanumanth secretary of the Gandhi Leprosy Colony
“I can’t believe that all this (medical Clinic) is for us. Many people have come & gone in the last few years but you have stood firm with us.” Basamma Kalyani, wife of leprosy affected person & resident of Gandhi Leprosy Colony.
“I have learnt so much in the last few months at Karuna. I have also seen the favor of God upon my life & my family from the time I started to work as a volunteer in Karuna.”
Rakesh Samson, Volunteer from the local church.
“No one has ever taken our children for an outing like this. Thank you so much. We are blessed to have Karuna helping us here in the colony.” Shantappa, Leprosy affected person & resident of Gandhi Leprosy Colony, whose children were among the 42 children taken out for the to the zoo, science park & planetarium.
“Only the Lord Jesus could have healed my son. He is all powerful.” Yamnappa, leprosy affected person & resident of Gandhi Leprosy Colony, whose 2.5 year old child was healed and saved from undergoing an operation for removal of cysts from the urinary tract.
“ We feel so privileged that God has chosen us to advance His Kingdom here at the Gandhi Leprosy Colony & Town of Gulbarga. I have seen God work through us in many ways here. We have seen a few healings & even the deliverance of a demon possessed woman.”
Michael D’Costa.
The Karuna project is all about changing lives. Changing lives for a better future.
Through showing the love and compassion of Jesus to people who have never experienced this kind of love before we have been able to make some inroads into a few people’s lives.
Story 1
Manthesh showing his polio stricken leg.
Manthesh is one such person. The son of a leprosy affected person, this 20 year old youth was stricken with polio in one leg from birth due to which he had much difficulty in walking. This condition gave him an inferoity complex which affected his speech and so he would stammer while talking.
Last year for Christmas The Lord blessed Manthesh through Karuna with a gift of an excellent caliper (see the article on the website http://karunaleprosyministries.org
in the archives section under the heading January posted as The Christmas Gift.).
Manthesh with the new caliper fitted to his leg.
Today nearly one year later Manthesh is full of life. Taking advantage of the computer training given by Karuna, Manthesh took a course in Desktop Publishing (DTP).
4 months back he got a job as a DTP operator in a small shop doing what he likes best, sitting and working in front of a computer. He is now able to help his mother financially and support the other three younger children. There is an air of new found confidence in him and the stammer in his speech has improved by 90%.
Manthesh is full of praise for Karuna and thanks God for the work and change he is now experiencing in his life.
